Responsibilities
- Embed with application teams to lead the design, development, and delivery of application modernization efforts on AWS cloud-native architectures.
- Drive re-platforming and microservices adoption while contributing significant production code.
- Set up architectural scaffolding, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform infrastructure and resolve complex integration blockers.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development tools and practices, including Cursor and Claude Code.
- Assess technical and process bottlenecks, recommend solutions, and manage technical and organizational change.
- Provide technical consultation, mentoring, and upskilling to diverse engineering teams.
- Relay team feedback and tool or process deficiencies to the central Principal Engineer and Architect.
- Ensure teams follow engineering standards, Twelve-Factor App principles, DevSecOps practices, and high-quality coding standards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive software engineering experience focused on enterprise applications and application modernization.
- Strong full-stack experience across front end, back end, databases, and infrastructure.
- Expert proficiency in one or more of Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java.
- Deep practical experience building and deploying scalable applications on AWS.
- Strong proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Hands-on mastery of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI and DevSecOps practices.
- Understanding of microservices, serverless, event-driven architecture, and Domain-Driven Design.
- Ability to influence technical direction, drive organizational change, and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience in consulting, Staff Engineer, Forward Deployed, technical adoption, or modernization roles.
- Preferred experience training or mentoring software engineers and using React, NextJS, Cursor, Claude Code, Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS Lambda.
