Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Develop, operate, and automate Schwab’s enterprise API gateway and integration platform.
- Build secure, scalable, and reliable API-first solutions using Google Apigee or equivalent technologies.
- Develop backend services and microservices using Java, .NET, or Python.
- Configure API proxies, shared flows, target servers, KVMs, policies, and developer portal technologies.
- Implement API security controls including OAuth 2.0, mTLS, certificate-based authentication, rate limiting, and threat protection.
- Create deployment automation and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Maven and GitHub Actions.
- Implement observability, monitoring, alerting, production support, and platform resiliency practices.
- Collaborate with application, security, infrastructure, and platform teams to improve developer experience and cloud-native adoption.
- Contribute to API onboarding automation, enterprise traffic migration, architecture standards, and developer enablement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience in backend development, middleware, or API integration platforms.
- Experience building and operating API gateway or integration platforms, preferably Google Apigee or equivalent platforms such as MuleSoft, Kong, or AWS API Gateway.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools and understanding of AI-Driven Development Lifecycle practices.
- Strong proficiency with Java, .NET, or Python for backend services and microservices development.
- Experience with Angular, JavaScript, REST APIs, and developer portal technologies.
- Experience implementing API security controls, including OAuth 2.0, mTLS, certificate-based authentication, rate limiting, and threat protection.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, observability, monitoring, alerting, production support, and Test-Driven Development.
- Understanding of TLS/SSL, certificate management, DNS, load balancing, and network security fundamentals.
- Preferred experience with Google Apigee, GCP, GKE, Cloud Armor, Akamai, CDN or edge platforms, agentic AI workflows, multi-agent orchestration, enterprise traffic migration, and regulated financial-services environments.
- Preferred Google Apigee, GCP, or related API/cloud platform certifications.
- Strong communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and technical leadership skills.
