Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve Java-based enterprise applications using Spring Boot and distributed backend services.
- Lead architectural decisions and contribute to the design of complex software systems, platforms, and domains.
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives, resolve dependencies, and influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Remain hands-on with coding, design reviews, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for complex or high-risk components.
- Define and maintain automated unit, integration, and system testing strategies.
- Partner with DevOps and platform teams on deployment strategies, operational readiness, and delivery pipelines.
- Mentor mid-level and senior engineers and promote consistent engineering and code-quality standards.
- Apply AI-assisted development practices, including code suggestions, test generation, review support, automation, agentic workflows, spec-driven development, and prompt engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience focused on Java-based enterprise application development.
- Hands-on production experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architectures.
- Experience with relational or NoSQL databases and distributed messaging platforms.
- Strong knowledge of object-oriented design, software design patterns, automated testing, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience designing complex systems, making architectural decisions, leading cross-team initiatives, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
- Familiarity with cloud-native deployment models and collaboration with DevOps or platform teams.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Hands-on proficiency with GitHub Copilot and/or Claude Code in IDE- and CLI-based workflows.
- Working knowledge of agentic workflows, spec-driven development, custom instructions, and prompt engineering.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and exposure to distributed systems, event-driven architectures, high-availability platforms, or organization-wide architecture standards are preferred.
