Responsibilities
- Own API-first architecture and act as a technical force multiplier across the company.
- Design, build, evolve, and operate high-scale APIs for internal teams, external customers, and intelligent agents.
- Lead agentic workflows involving orchestration, state management, tooling, and integration patterns.
- Drive API standards, design principles, best practices, governance, versioning, and compatibility through hands-on work and technical reviews.
- Partner with Product, Platform, and SRE teams to ensure APIs are reliable, observable, secure, and scalable.
- Identify and reduce systemic technical risks while owning end-to-end systems and solving ambiguous cross-team problems.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar through example and execution.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a senior staff- or principal-level software engineer working on applications and backend systems.
- Experience building product platforms or shared services consumed by multiple product teams.
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating APIs at scale.
- Strong hands-on experience with RESTful APIs.
- Some experience designing, using, or operating GraphQL in production.
- Deep understanding of system design, performance, reliability, and long-term system evolution.
- Strong hands-on contribution, ownership, and ability to influence technical direction across teams through credibility and execution.
- Preferred: experience with agentic or AI-driven workflows, MCP or similar agent integration patterns, large-scale distributed systems, API governance, versioning and backward compatibility, and close collaboration with Platform and SRE teams.
