Base Salary
$249k - $278k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship backend systems for athlete-facing features.
- Act as tech lead for engineering pods, coordinating work and ensuring quality.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to develop features from concept to production.
- Solve complex technical problems and guide the team in execution.
- Work across Strava's backend stack and adapt to adjacent systems as needed.
- Mentor engineers within the pod and across the tech team.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional backend/server engineering experience.
- Experience as a tech lead, facilitating team processes and driving execution.
- Strong system design skills for distributed systems at scale.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Scala, Go, Python) and willingness to learn others.
- Experience with distributed systems technologies like Kafka and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases in production.
