Responsibilities
- Build and evolve scalable, channel-independent Core Commerce Services and headless checkout capabilities.
- Define APIs, domain boundaries, integration patterns, and scalable platform architecture.
- Contribute directly to production code across technical discovery, design, implementation, and production operations.
- Align technical decisions and integration contracts across Checkout, Payment, and dependent teams.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, design discussions, code reviews, and technical feedback.
- Partner with Product to translate business needs into scalable solutions and foundations for AI-powered assistants, agentic commerce, and emerging channels.
Requirements
- Strong Java and backend engineering expertise with experience designing and building backend services, platforms, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience operating at Staff/Principal level or demonstrated equivalent senior technical leadership.
- Strong system design, architecture, technical ownership, autonomy, and pragmatic trade-off decision-making skills.
- Experience working in greenfield or 0-to-1 environments where architecture, APIs, and domain boundaries must be established.
- Track record of mentoring engineers, leading through influence, and raising technical standards across teams.
- Experience with headless or traditional checkout, order management, SaaS/platform engineering, e-commerce, or marketplaces is a preferred qualification.
