Responsibilities
- Develop ETL data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into centralized repositories.
- Improve pipeline efficiency, reliability, scalability, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
- Develop RESTful APIs and microservices with attention to security, scalability, cost effectiveness, and testing.
- Create unit and integration tests and document API usage.
- Resolve application bugs, identify performance bottlenecks, and improve code, databases, data processing, and query performance.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, product managers, infrastructure, business operations, quality assurance, and other cross-functional partners.
- Perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and recommend technologies for data engineering improvements.
- Implement access controls and encryption and comply with data privacy regulations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience in multiple capacities.
- 2+ years of experience with big data technologies such as Airflow, EMR/Spark, Snowflake, and Hadoop/Hive.
- Experience with data streaming using Kinesis or Kafka.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience with relational databases including MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Background with cloud technologies including AWS, S3/EBS, Lambda, EKS, and CloudWatch.
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as Splunk and Datadog.
- Knowledge of design patterns and development methodologies across multiple platforms.
- Knowledge of modern development practices and open-source technologies, along with excellent debugging skills.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred.
- AWS Certified Developer - Associate certification is preferred but optional.
