Responsibilities

  • Deliver cross-cutting platform components, refactors, integrations, and high-leverage software features using coding agents and agentic engineering practices.
  • Define and document agentic engineering standards, including spec-driven workflows, agent steering documents, custom Skills, MCP server patterns, subagent orchestration, and context engineering.
  • Package reusable skills, plugins, templates, and internal documentation for adoption across the engineering organization.
  • Drive architectural decisions across Engineering, Data, and Infrastructure, including API design, distributed systems, event-driven patterns, observability, and security.
  • Build internal agents, MCP integrations, and RAG-backed applications with appropriate evaluation, guardrails, and cost discipline.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and internal stakeholders on initiative scoping, sequencing, tradeoffs, and engineering investment decisions.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers through pairing sessions, design reviews, brown-bags, and hands-on collaboration.
  • Promote healthcare-aware engineering practices covering PHI, BAA requirements, audit trails, clinical safety, and regulated change management.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience at Senior, Staff, or Principal individual-contributor levels.
  • Deep systems design and architecture expertise across distributed systems, API design, event-driven patterns, data flow, observability, and security.
  • Strong proficiency in at least one of .NET, Python, or TypeScript, with working fluency in the others.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, containers and Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and data platforms.
  • Routine use of coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor, including context management, subagent orchestration, hooks, Skills, and plugins.
  • Working knowledge of MCP, Skills, slash commands, agent steering documents, and context-engineering practices.
  • Production experience with spec-driven development and practical exposure to an agent development SDK or framework such as OpenAI Agent SDK or LangGraph.
  • Working knowledge of RAG patterns, retrieval design, grounding, and tradeoffs among RAG, fine-tuning, and longer-context approaches.
  • Demonstrated technical influence through patterns, libraries, frameworks, internal tooling, documentation, or mentorship adopted by other engineers.
  • Comfort with product-adjacent work, problem framing, internal-customer conversations, MVP scoping, and engineering-investment decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to executives, clinicians, and engineers.
  • Healthcare or regulated-industry experience, including HIPAA, HITRUST, or SOC 2, is desirable.
  • Experience with Airflow, dbt, Databricks, modern data engineering, LLM evaluation, eval harnesses, hallucination and regression testing, and cost and latency monitoring is desirable.
  • Cloud certification at the professional or architect level is desirable.
