Responsibilities
- Establish the organization-wide QA and quality engineering strategy, standards, guidelines, templates, and best practices.
- Define quality criteria, metrics, reporting standards, dashboards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Select or standardize test frameworks and tools for unit, integration, API, UI, performance, and security testing.
- Coach and train engineers and technical leads to design, implement, automate, and maintain effective tests.
- Help teams establish test suites, pipelines, quality gates, test environments, test data practices, and release workflows.
- Embed QA, secure development, shift-left, and continuous testing practices into software development processes.
- Review test strategies, test plans, critical test suites, acceptance criteria, and quality risks across projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, architecture, operations, security, platform, API, and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate testing communities of practice or guilds and mentor internal quality champions.
- Create a final playbook, document ownership, and establish an exit strategy for sustainable quality governance.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software quality assurance or quality engineering experience covering test strategy, test design, and test execution across multiple projects or products.
- At least 1 year leading or driving QA or quality engineering practices at a team or organizational level.
- Proven experience establishing or significantly improving QA practices in environments without a mature QA function.
- Strong hands-on experience with API and/or UI test automation using mainstream frameworks and languages such as Java, .NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and defining quality gates such as coverage thresholds, regression suites, and static analysis.
- Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences in Japanese.
- Strong emotional intelligence and experience coaching and influencing engineers and technical leads without direct authority.
- Strong understanding of non-functional testing, including performance, reliability, security, and usability.
- Ability to work effectively in virtual and distributed environments.
- Preferred experience with quality metrics, QA Centers of Excellence, secure development, performance and load testing, test data management, environment strategy, modern software architectures, Agile environments, and QA training or documentation.
