Base Salary

$100k - $150k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop, compile, test, and maintain C++ and Python software for simulation adapters, plugins, and interfaces.
  • Integrate simulation backends including AFSIM, NGTS, Aechelon, HMSSimBlocks, and HMSF.
  • Port simulation features from HMSSimBlocks to HMSF, update interfaces, validate behavior, and document migration considerations.
  • Maintain legacy HMSSimBlocks integrations and develop reusable components for sensors, vehicle models, effects, and mission capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain CIGI-based plugins and interfaces connecting simulation frameworks with Aechelon image generators.
  • Verify simulation plugins involving CSF loading, DDS communications, GRID interface requirements, and Hivemind SDK compatibility.
  • Diagnose simulation and autonomy integration issues using logs, network traffic, DDS messages, API behavior, configuration files, and call stacks.
  • Write unit tests, automated integration tests, developer documentation, and example configurations.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, bug triage, and collaborative debugging.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Foundational programming experience in C++ and Python through coursework, internships, personal projects, research, or professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments, command-line tools, software compilation, and basic scripting.
  • Understanding of Git-based version control, debugging, code review, automated testing, object-oriented programming, software interfaces, APIs, and modular software design.
  • Exposure to networking concepts including TCP, UDP, client-server communication, message passing, or data serialization.
  • Interest in modeling and simulation, autonomy, robotics, distributed systems, game engines, visualization systems, or defense technology.
  • Preferred experience with simulation or robotics projects and tools including AFSIM, NGTS, Unreal Engine, Unity, Gazebo, ROS, ROS 2, MATLAB, or Simulink.
  • Preferred familiarity with DDS, ROS 2, ZeroMQ, gRPC, message queues, CIGI, DIS, HLA, CSF, GoogleTest, pytest, CTest, CMake, Make, Bazel, Docker, or Podman.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
