Responsibilities
- Drive large, complex backend projects autonomously from technical design through launch.
- Solve architecture challenges and apply architectural standards to new projects.
- Lead code reviews and documentation and handle complex, high-risk bug fixes.
- Partner with engineering teams on company-wide initiatives spanning multiple projects.
- Develop expertise in Java while transferring knowledge from another programming language.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence technical decision-makers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and developing backend applications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Senior-level experience with Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, Scala, or another prominent programming language.
- Hands-on experience with public cloud offerings such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Fluency in at least one database technology, including Oracle, Postgres, DynamoDB, or Cassandra.
- Experience implementing well-tested, scalable, performant microservices or distributed systems.
- Practical knowledge of software development methodologies such as XP or Scrum.
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs involving correctness, robustness, performance, space, and time.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing decision-makers across an organization.
- Ability to consider customer impact in technical decisions.
