Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, architect, implement, and lead key components of United’s machine learning platform and GenAI/ML business use cases.
- Build high-performance, cloud-native machine learning infrastructure and services.
- Set up containerized and serverless platforms using cloud infrastructure.
- Develop ML automation tools and applications using the AWS ecosystem.
- Build batch and real-time data pipelines to support machine learning models.
- Develop with Spark and Flink for real-time and batch applications.
- Support large-scale model training and serving pipelines in distributed, scalable environments.
- Optimize, fine-tune, evaluate, debug, and deploy generative AI and LLM models.
- Implement LLMOps or AgenticOps processes for the end-to-end lifecycle of large language models.
- Establish ML engineering processes, best practices, and technical leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Generative AI, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience with Python, Go, Java, or C/C++.
- At least 5 years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
- Strong Python expertise plus at least one additional programming language such as Go, Java, or C/C++.
- Experience with data science frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow and with building or deploying production ML pipelines.
- Experience with ML model lifecycle development and algorithms or methods such as XGBoost, CatBoost, and deep learning.
- Experience setting up and optimizing RDBMS or NoSQL data stores for production ML applications.
- Experience with cloud-native DevOps and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline; GitOps experience with Argo CD, Flux, or Jenkins X is preferred.
- Experience with generative models such as GANs, VAEs, and autoregressive models.
- Experience with prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, LLM debugging, production LLM deployment, and LLMOps or AgenticOps.
- Experience with generative AI methods including retrieval-augmented generation and instruction fine-tuning.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related STEM field.
- Preferred experience includes 5 or more years in cloud environments, Kubernetes, Docker, ECS, EKS, Spark, Flink, SQL, and cloud-native DevOps; 3–5 or more years of enterprise architecture experience; and at least 1 year of Generative AI/LLM experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
- Successful completion of an interview and reliable, punctual attendance are required.

- The base pay range is $147,060.00 to $191,516.00.
