Cloud Platform Engineer - Kubernetes, Officer
State StreetResponsibilities
- Own cloud platform engineering for a technical domain or initiative across multiple scrum teams, engineering managers, and architects.
- Design, build, deploy, and operate enterprise-scale Azure cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, compute, shared services, and application environments.
- Develop and maintain modular infrastructure as code using Terraform, Terragrunt, shell scripting, and Python.
- Deploy and manage Azure Kubernetes Service clusters, including node scaling, capacity planning, networking, ingress, workloads, quotas, and multi-environment operations.
- Build automated Azure Pipelines and DevOps release management processes for infrastructure and application onboarding.
- Use ArgoCD and GitOps processes to deploy multi-module applications and manage Kubernetes environments.
- Support cloud migrations, infrastructure provisioning, configuration-drift remediation, and deployment of services across multiple regions.
- Manage secrets and credentials using Azure Key Vault, Kubernetes secrets, Azure Active Directory, LDAP, certificates, and keys.
- Monitor and troubleshoot cloud resources and Kubernetes workloads using Azure Monitor and Prometheus/Grafana.
- Define cloud architecture standards and best practices, conduct proofs of concept, investigate emerging technologies, and provide technical thought leadership.
- Ensure cloud solutions comply with security and compliance controls and maintain architectural documentation and knowledge bases.
- Lead and mentor multisite teams and serve as a subject matter expert and liaison for cloud technologies and solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of cloud deployment experience, including at least 2 years with Azure.
- Hands-on experience designing, engineering, and implementing Azure infrastructure and networking.
- Proficiency with Terraform, including HCL, modular architecture, state management, and configuration-drift control.
- Experience with Terragrunt, Azure DevOps pipelines, shell scripting, and Python scripting.
- Proficiency administering Azure Kubernetes Service, including cluster lifecycles, scaling, capacity planning, networking, ingress controllers, and Azure CNI.
- Experience with ArgoCD, GitOps, multi-module application deployment, and Kubernetes resource quotas.
- Knowledge of Azure IaaS and PaaS services, resource provisioning, multi-environment and multi-region deployment, and Azure fundamentals.
- Experience managing secrets, credentials, accounts, certificates, keys, Azure Active Directory, LDAP, Azure Key Vault, and Kubernetes secrets.
- Experience with Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, and Git-based version control practices.
- Ability to lead teams, conduct technical investigations, document architectures, define standards, and communicate with engineering and project teams.
- Azure Cloud Platform Certification is preferred.
