Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and PHP.
- Build, consume, secure, version, and document RESTful and SOAP web services.
- Design and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schemas, indexes, queries, and stored procedures.
- Write efficient SQL queries for transactional and reporting use cases.
- Deploy and manage applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP using cloud compute, storage, queues, and managed databases.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities such as LLM APIs, embeddings, semantic search, chatbots, and automation workflows.
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions and drive technical best practices.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with product managers, QA, DevOps, and designers in an Agile environment.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and JPA.
- Solid experience with PHP and frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
- Experience designing and building REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML web services.
- Strong PostgreSQL and SQL knowledge, including performance optimization.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Practical exposure to AI/ML or Generative AI integration, including technologies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face APIs, LangChain, or vector databases.
- Understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, and containerization; Kubernetes is a plus.
- Preferred experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, Redis, Memcached, OAuth2, JWT, OWASP practices, Terraform, CloudFormation, JavaScript, React, Angular, RAG, prompt engineering, or relevant cloud and professional certifications.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, independence, mentoring, and leadership abilities.
