Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cloud-native, distributed, scalable web applications and portfolio construction and management systems.
  • Define application-level architecture and modernize legacy monolithic systems into microservices-based architectures.
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable code and participate in design reviews, code reviews, and software quality readiness.
  • Develop and optimize high-throughput, fault-tolerant, concurrent batch processes and scalable middle-tier web services.
  • Implement domain-specific business rules and analyze complex financial data across relational databases.
  • Develop documentation and establish full project life-cycle plans, schedules, and assignments for complex multi-platform projects.
  • Plan and execute CI/CD, source-code management, storage, monitoring, profiling, troubleshooting, and dynamic scaling activities.
  • Conduct technical analysis, risk assessments, technology evaluations, and solution development for divisional initiatives.
  • Act as a liaison with business units to resolve project and technology issues.
  • Coach team members and mentor junior engineers throughout the software development life cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field and five years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in one of these fields and three years of relevant experience.
  • Five or three years of experience, respectively, as a Principal Full Stack Engineer or in a closely related occupation developing portfolio construction solutions in a financial services environment.
  • Experience leveraging Java, Kafka, AWS, and advanced portfolio optimization technologies.
  • Expertise with Java, Spring Boot, Groovy, Python, JMS, Kafka, JPA, myBatis, Oracle, PL/SQL, Autosys, and Axioma.
  • Experience developing high-throughput, fault-tolerant, highly concurrent batch processes and scalable middle-tier web services.
  • Experience with message-based middleware, stateful applications, relational databases, batch scheduling, vendor-driven portfolio optimizations, and interconnected data models.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, Atlassian JIRA, BDD, ATDD, Spock, JUnit, Cypress, PACT, and WireMock.
  • Experience migrating and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and using Jenkins, MCADS, AWS hybrid cloud frameworks, Git, and Maven.
  • Experience monitoring and profiling applications with Datadog, JProfiler, Java VisualVM, and JConsole, and optimizing performance with jMagic.
  • Experience with AWS EC2, EKS, ECS, Docker, and dynamic instance scaling.
  • Ability to provide technical coaching, perform complex analysis, advise management, and develop original technical solutions.
