
Lead Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Apply software development lifecycle expertise to design, develop, troubleshoot, review, and debug production software.
- Build reusable services and high-throughput, multithreaded platforms using secure, scalable engineering practices.
- Lead feature design and development, identify new capabilities, and help shape program strategy and direction.
- Develop AI-enabled and agentic workflows, including tool-using agents, orchestration patterns, evaluation, and guardrails.
- Improve operational stability by identifying and automating remediation of recurring application and system issues.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance on reliability, performance, risk, cybersecurity, legal, and compliance requirements.
- Partner with stakeholders and application teams to promote engineering best practices and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
- Extensive Java development experience, version 8 or higher, with Spring or a similar framework.
- Experience with Test Driven Development using JUnit.
- Expertise in data structures, algorithms, and multithreaded programming.
- Experience developing mission-critical, high-throughput, high-performance platforms and reusable services.
- Experience with enterprise data security and encryption.
- Experience with Java Spring Boot, Hibernate, Kafka, Cassandra, Kubernetes, PowerMock, JMeter, Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, Jenkins, Sonar, Fortify, Black Duck, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development practices and validating AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred experience with cloud-native application development using AWS, GCP, or private cloud.
- Ability to influence architecture and design across distributed systems and work effectively in large collaborative teams.
