Responsibilities

  • Provide enterprise-level technical leadership for the architecture, design, engineering, modernization, and operation of mission-critical Financial Crimes and Risk Management platforms.
  • Develop technology strategies, architecture direction, reusable platforms, common services, reference architectures, accelerators, and engineering frameworks used by multiple teams.
  • Design and deliver Java full-stack, distributed, cloud-native, machine learning-enabled, Generative AI, and Agentic AI solutions.
  • Lead resolution of highly complex technical challenges and maintain hands-on engagement through prototyping, design validation, code review, technical investigations, and production problem resolution.
  • Define patterns for APIs, event-driven systems, integrations, model services, data pipelines, deployment, resiliency, observability, security, and operational support.
  • Identify redundant platforms, duplicated capabilities, fragmented engineering patterns, and opportunities for consolidation, reuse, simplification, automation, or retirement.
  • Influence executives and cross-functional stakeholders across product, engineering, architecture, security, risk, and business functions.
  • Mentor engineers, develop technical talent, raise engineering standards, build communities of practice, and contribute to recruiting and retaining engineering talent.
  • Represent engineering perspectives in strategic planning and multi-year technology direction for Financial Crimes and Risk Management.
  • Promote engineering excellence and evaluate emerging technologies for practical, governed application to business problems.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Core Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Strong frontend architecture and development experience with React or Angular, JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience designing, building, modernizing, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, domain-driven design, microservices architecture, API design, event-driven systems, integration patterns, and distributed computing.
  • Hands-on experience delivering Generative AI solutions using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, evaluation approaches, and agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise platforms, backend services, digital workflows, and engineering processes in a secure, resilient, governed, and supportable manner.
  • Experience defining architecture and integration patterns for machine learning-enabled systems, model services, data pipelines, and scalable deployment.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture, containers, orchestration platforms, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, and site reliability engineering practices.
  • Experience designing highly available and resilient systems with recovery, fault-tolerance, capacity, performance, monitoring, and operational-support patterns.
  • Experience in Financial Crimes, Risk Management, banking, financial services, or another highly regulated environment is desired.
  • Understanding of regulatory, security, privacy, model risk, data governance, audit, resiliency, and operational-risk considerations.
  • Strong executive communication, technical thought leadership, stakeholder influence, mentoring, and cross-organizational leadership abilities.
