Responsibilities
- Design and develop observability features using Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and cloud-native tools on Linux and Windows platforms.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including concept, design, testing, and deployment.
- Build and maintain scalable and reliable monitoring solutions for Nomura’s global infrastructure.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and initiatives transforming Nomura’s monitoring capabilities.
- Collaborate with global agile teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and Site Reliability Engineering teams.
- Champion observability practices that improve system reliability and performance.
- Peer-review code, participate in continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to sprint planning.
- Mentor and guide engineers on software engineering, monitoring, and observability practices.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience with Java 8+ and Python.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL.
- Competence working in a Linux environment.
- Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
- Agile development experience and understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience peer-reviewing code and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, presentation, documentation, analytical, troubleshooting, and judgment skills.
- Fluency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred experience with monitoring and observability tools, Spring, Protocol Buffers, JSON, REST APIs, PowerShell, AWS, Terraform, and production support processes.
- Preferred experience with AI tools such as Claude, globally dispersed teams, and large-enterprise environments.
