Base Salary
$180k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the stability, pluggability, reliability, and latency of the real-time StreamModule call pipeline.
- Consolidate BullMQ into Kafka and own a portion of the migration.
- Instrument critical pipeline stages with event-driven OpenTelemetry tracing.
- Harden provider abstractions and plugin paths so new models and providers can be added without core changes.
- Operate and improve Postgres reliability, including connection pooling, read replicas, and schema migrations.
- Drive measurable reliability or latency improvements and advise agents and FDE teams on provider and pipeline design reviews.
Requirements
- Production experience building and debugging real-time, streaming, media, or event-driven backend systems, including backpressure cascades.
- Strong understanding of queue architecture and tradeoffs involving BullMQ, Kafka, and Temporal.
- Experience building plugin or adapter architectures with cleanly extended base classes and decoupled implementations.
- Experience operating Postgres at scale, including connection pooling, read replicas, and schema migrations using Liquibase or similar tools.
- Experience instrumenting systems with OpenTelemetry and using event-driven traces.
- TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS experience is preferred, though language experience is not a hiring gate.
- Experience from streaming, real-time platform, ML infrastructure, pipeline, workflow, or trading systems is a potential fit.
