Responsibilities
- Build robust and scalable web-based applications
- Create abstractions and contracts with separation of concerns for larger scopes
- Solve high-level business and technical problems and perform high-level design with guidance
- Break modules into functional models and phases and assess the impact of incremental architectural changes
- Tune performance and improve large-scale distributed systems
- Work with product managers to derive capability views and lead execution of medium-sized projects
- Track project and feature impact with broader stakeholders and proactively iterate on improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and foster team spirit
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience writing code and solving problems at large scale
- Extensive programming experience in at least one general-purpose language such as Java, C, or C++
- Experience with multithreading and concurrency programming
- Experience building highly scalable business applications with complex business flows and large amounts of data
- Strong object-oriented design, design-pattern knowledge, and ability to create intuitive module- and class-level interfaces
- Strong coding skills and ability to translate designs into maintainable, scalable, unit-tested code
- Knowledge of Test Driven Development
- Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL and NoSQL systems such as HBase, Elasticsearch, or Aerospike
- Full lifecycle development experience on a Linux platform
- BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent qualification or experience
- Experience working in startup environments with high ownership and commitment
