Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex, scalable cloud-native microservices for SAP's Order Management platform.
- Build AI-native components, advanced RAG pipelines, multi-agent workflows, and AI evaluation and benchmarking frameworks.
- Optimize system latency, throughput, cost efficiency, scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Implement and improve observability and SRE practices, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation using SAP BTP, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests and champion test automation and production-grade quality.
- Own technical quality through coding standards, code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive permanent fixes across application, integration, and infrastructure layers.
- Collaborate with platform, data, AI, architecture, product, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Use, evaluate, and establish team standards for AI-assisted development tools across the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor less-experienced engineers and serve as a technical resource for design, code quality, onboarding, and complex problem solving.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent functional experience.
- At least 6 years of professional software development experience.
- Professional experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot across design, coding, testing, and observability.
- Expert-level Java skills, with Spring Boot experience preferred.
- Proven experience with API design and asynchronous messaging using Kafka or a similar technology.
- Deep experience with distributed systems, scalable application design, LLMs, advanced RAG patterns, agentic workflows, system resiliency, and fault tolerance.
- Experience with performance optimization, cost management, production troubleshooting, observability, SRE principles, incident management, and AI-system evaluation frameworks.
- Experience with microservices architecture, cloud-native patterns, CI/CD tooling, and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Technical leadership, mentoring, communication, stakeholder presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Preferred knowledge of OMS concepts such as order capture, fulfillment, ATP, and returns.
- Preferred knowledge of SAP BTP and Azure and contributions to open-source projects.
