Responsibilities
- Develop reliable and maintainable automated tests for Android applications, primarily using Java and UI Automator.
- Execute integration, system, feature interaction, stress, performance, functional, user-flow, black-box, and gray-box testing.
- Analyze requirements and create, evaluate, and maintain accurate test cases and test plans.
- Monitor continuous integration test failures, report and triage bugs, validate specifications, and communicate test and quality status.
- Work alongside developers to automate test scenarios during sprints and design tools that improve manual-testing efficiency.
- Reduce automation flakiness and improve test reliability over time.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as an SDET, including at least 2 years writing automated tests.
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science or engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in black-box, functional, and user-flow testing, with strong attention to test coverage gaps and false positives or negatives.
- Strong experience with the Android platform and mobile test automation ecosystem.
- Ability to write and understand Java code for the Android platform.
- Experience with software development tools including IDEs, debuggers, Git, and JIRA.
- Basic shell scripting skills and familiarity with commands such as grep, cut, sed, sort, and wget.
- Familiarity with JSON, SQL queries, data structures, Android tools, and log-file analysis.
- Knowledge of Mocha with JavaScript, JUnit for RESTful APIs, and Python is a plus.
- Experience with continuous integration tools, including GitHub, JIRA, and Jenkins, is preferred.
- Payment-industry experience, including EMVCo, PCI, EMV Contactless specifications, or payment-terminal testing, is preferred.
- Ability to champion quality practices within a team or organization.
