Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise-level SQL Server support and administration focused on performance tuning, query optimization, clustering, high availability, and failover.
- Design and optimize SQL Server data platform deployments across on-premises environments and public clouds.
- Architect high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions using Failover Cluster Instances and Always On Availability Groups.
- Support SQL Server migrations and modernization to Azure, including SQL Server on Azure IaaS.
- Perform data modeling, database design, schema management, indexing, partitioning, capacity planning, storage management, backup and recovery, and data integrity activities.
- Conduct SQL code reviews, analyze query plans and T-SQL code, and manage upgrades, editions, versions, deprecated features, and replication.
- Apply data security, encryption, auditing, metadata management, policy-based management, and general database management practices.
- Deliver or author technical training and support customer-facing consulting engagements.
Requirements
- 8–20 years of experience with SQL Server and data platforms.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server performance, tuning, high availability, failover clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with SQL Server on Azure IaaS or another public cloud is required.
- Experience with SQL Server 2012 and later versions, core SQL, migrations, query tuning, optimization, and T-SQL.
- Knowledge of data modeling, database design, indexing, partitioning, backup and recovery, security, encryption, auditing, replication, capacity planning, and storage management.
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Analysis Services.
- Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Azure Synapse is preferred.
- Power BI experience and advanced Microsoft certifications are preferred.
- Previous consulting and/or customer-facing experience is preferred.
