Responsibilities

  • Build a self-service experience and automated control layer for Mastercard’s Data Commercialization Platform.
  • Develop and operate governed cloud and lakehouse infrastructure for enterprise users.
  • Build end-to-end applications spanning React and TypeScript/JavaScript web experiences, Java and Spring Boot backend services, APIs, data platforms, and cloud layers.
  • Design workflow orchestration platforms, automation frameworks, and long-running stateful processes with retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and external-system integrations.
  • Engineer scalable solutions involving cloud compute, networking, identity, storage, security, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and cost optimization.
  • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data systems, caching, asynchronous processing, and distributed data workloads.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical trade-off discussions and explain solutions to engineering, security, platform, and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience building scalable, reliable data platforms and software in agile environments.
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Python, Spark/PySpark, Databricks, Unity Catalog, Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake, object storage, and workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Strong experience building backend services with Java, Core Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs, as well as web experiences with React and TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure, Kubernetes, networking, identity and access management, storage, security, Terraform, CloudFormation or CDK, CI/CD, observability, and cost optimization.
  • Experience designing workflow orchestration platforms, automation frameworks, or long-running stateful processes and integrating external systems through REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, query optimization, caching, asynchronous processing, and application scalability patterns.
  • Preferred experience with Kafka, Flink, Trino, EMR, or Snowflake.
  • Exposure to LLM-based applications, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic frameworks, and evaluation techniques.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in secure coding, access control, automated testing, observability, and troubleshooting across UI, API, data, and cloud layers.
  • Ability to evaluate technical trade-offs, participate in architecture and design discussions, communicate complex solutions to stakeholders, and use AI coding assistants and modern developer productivity tools.
