Responsibilities
- Own technical decision-making by evaluating technologies, running POCs and benchmarks, and making evidence-based recommendations for frameworks, datastores, infrastructure, partitioning, migrations, and performance.
- Shape platform-level architecture for Kubernetes deployments, Kafka-based messaging, durable workflow orchestration, and multi-tenant data models.
- Review technical designs, code, RFCs, architecture artifacts, benchmarks, and trade-offs for .NET product teams.
- Design, build, and improve Java and .NET microservices and backend systems for the SaaS platform.
- Guide teams on scalability, cloud readiness, resilience, observability, security, and shared platform standards.
- Assess on-premises products and define migration paths to SaaS without disrupting on-premises delivery.
- Create reusable libraries, tooling, pipelines, and examples for adoption across engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers and influence teams that are not directly managed while partnering with Product Management, Support, and Professional Services.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a record of technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on expertise with Java and the Spring ecosystem, plus experience with C#/.NET and architectural design review.
- Production Kubernetes experience including service design, Helm/GitOps deployment, jobs, autoscaling, and multi-tenant SaaS operations.
- Experience with distributed-data fundamentals, partitioning, consistency trade-offs, high-volume ingestion/ETL, query tuning, and relational databases at scale.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or a similar relational database, plus exposure to an analytical or NoSQL data store.
- Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies, along with API-first design and resilience/observability practices.
- Working familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID, including domain services, LDAP, authentication protocols, and directory data models.
- Ability to reason about Windows-centric on-premises products and dual on-premises/SaaS delivery constraints.
- Strong documentation and communication skills for producing RFCs and design documents and influencing teams without direct management.
- Preferred qualifications include Go, Azure, workflow engines such as Temporal, Spring Reactive, and exposure to identity security topics such as ITDR, privileged access management, or identity governance.
