Base Salary

$150k - $170k/yr

Responsibilities

Design and scale backend systems for data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.
Lead the design and integration of services and components for data and event processing.
Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
Translate stakeholder requirements into integrations, services, and solutions for the data platform.
Draft RFCs and lead complex feature discovery and technical design decisions.
Ensure data movement is complete, idempotent, correct, and predictable under partial failure.
Improve operational robustness and usability through documentation, tools, and dashboards.

5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.
Strong SQL proficiency and production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexes, query tuning, and query plans.
Hands-on experience with Kafka or equivalent event-processing systems such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
Proficiency in Julia or Python; Julia experience is preferred but not required.
Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments, with familiarity with Kubernetes and Terraform and/or Helm.
Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript, including Node.js.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in remote or hybrid teams.

Fully remote work anywhere in the US, with optional in-person office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris.
Total compensation includes equity, PTO, and other benefits in addition to base salary.
