Responsibilities
- Design systems spanning Salesforce capabilities and external systems using Platform Events, CDC, async Apex, and integration callouts.
- Make architectural decisions for the Salesforce portfolio and lead technical design for complex cross-system features involving Salesforce, Banner, ServiceNow, and Kafka.
- Solve complex platform problems involving transaction boundaries, asynchronous handoffs, and Salesforce order of execution.
- Mentor SE I and SE II engineers through design guidance, architecture reviews, and pairing.
- Drive Salesforce development practices covering asynchronous patterns, integration standards, and testing strategy.
- Identify, prioritize, and resolve technical debt and partner with engineering leadership on platform strategy, migration plans, org health, and governance limit forecasting.
- Represent technical architecture to Product, Operations, Academic leadership, and other non-technical stakeholders.
- Design CI/CD improvements and release strategy for the portfolio.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years on the Salesforce platform.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience designing multi-system integrations, including error handling and data reconciliation strategies.
- Mastery of async Apex patterns, including Batch, Queueable, Platform Events, and CDC.
- Deep understanding of Salesforce order of execution and its impact on complex automation.
- A track record of solving difficult problems spanning multiple systems.
- Experience mentoring engineers and improving team capability.
- Ability to communicate technical architecture to engineers and non-technical leadership.
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and management using Copado or an equivalent.
- Preferred: Salesforce Platform Developer II certification.
- Preferred: one or more architect-level certifications such as Integration Architect, Data Architect, or Application Architect.
- Preferred: pipeline- and strategy-level Copado experience, Kafka or event streaming experience, higher education technology experience, large-scale Salesforce org experience, and experience migrating Process Builder or Workflow Rules to Flow or Apex.
