Responsibilities
- Drive the end-to-end architectural vision, API design, and implementation for native Android applications and developer-facing Android SDKs.
- Write clean, modular, well-tested Kotlin code and create public API interfaces, AAR packages, and Maven artifacts for enterprise integration.
- Establish code-quality, testing, modularity, and security best practices through code reviews and technical leadership.
- Partner with Product, Design, QA, and backend engineering to align mobile features with platform APIs and enterprise scalability requirements.
- Collaborate with enterprise developer partners to understand integration requirements, gather feedback, and support SDK adoption.
- Mentor and coach engineers and lead complex technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Optimize Gradle build pipelines, continuous integration, testing automation, and release speed.
- Monitor Android platform developments and adopt valuable new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in cloud, SaaS, or enterprise software environments.
- 5+ years of experience building production native Android applications and public or internal Android SDKs backed by cloud APIs.
- 3+ years of deep, hands-on Kotlin experience and working knowledge of Java for legacy-code interoperability.
- Experience designing maintainable SDK APIs, modular architectures, and distributing libraries through Maven Central or private repositories.
- A proven record of mentoring engineers and leading complex technical initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: experience with AAR packaging, semantic versioning, dependency isolation, and SDK deprecation cycles.
- Preferred: knowledge of Android frameworks, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, memory management, OAuth, SSO, and data encryption at rest.
- Preferred: familiarity with iOS development principles or cross-platform SDK design, open-source Android libraries, developer blogging, or technical speaking.
