
Lead Architect
Cox AutomotiveResponsibilities
- Define and evolve architectural vision across multiple delivery teams.
- Drive solution design from discovery through delivery, including epics, assumption validation, risk identification, and target-architecture alignment.
- Partner with engineering, product, and agile leaders to prioritize architectural investments and balance delivery with platform health.
- Reduce technical debt in deal initiation and address legacy dealer workflow integrations.
- Promote Cox Automotive Common tenancy, user-management platforms, and AWS-native patterns.
- Identify and champion generative AI use cases aligned with the Retail Agentic Platform.
- Create and maintain architectural roadmaps, decision records, solution diagrams, and integration models.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including generative AI tooling, for deal initiation and structuring use cases.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and six years of related experience, or a master's degree and four years, a Ph.D. and one year, or 18 years of related experience.
- Experience aligning stakeholders around technical direction, navigating ambiguity, and driving consensus across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Strong analytical ability with hands-on technical depth for proof-of-concepts and experimentation.
- Broad application, integration, and platform architecture knowledge connected to business outcomes.
- Extensive application architecture and API delivery experience at scale.
- Experience developing APIs at scale using GraphQL and/or REST.
- Experience delivering applications and architecture services through the full development life cycle in production environments.
- Experience architecting and delivering solutions in public cloud environments, preferably AWS.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, autonomous agents, vector databases, model selection, agent-based architecture, data pipelines, and AI-assisted product development life cycles.
- Experience in DevOps cultures with process improvement, automation, and continuous delivery.
- Proficiency with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and graph datastores.
- Experience developing software in Python, Node.js, Java, Scala, C#, or other languages.
- Preferred experience selecting application and data systems, designing distributed and event-driven systems, governing APIs, establishing engineering standards, shaping shared platforms, and mentoring engineers through influence.
