Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate production-grade AI/ML and GenAI solutions in a cloud environment.
  • Build backend services and AI capabilities using Python and modern software engineering practices.
  • Design and productionise AI agents and agentic workflows, including orchestration, tool use, grounding, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
  • Develop RAG and grounding solutions that integrate models with enterprise data, APIs, and internal systems.
  • Establish evaluation, guardrail, observability, and responsible-AI approaches for reliable and explainable systems.
  • Design reusable AI services, frameworks, APIs, and platform capabilities for adoption across engineering teams.
  • Apply cloud-native engineering principles for scalability, resilience, security, and performance.
  • Own solutions across architecture, development, deployment, observability, and production operations using DevSecOps practices.
  • Improve software delivery, testing, operational support, and developer productivity through AI-assisted engineering.
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy, engineering standards, and AI adoption patterns across Payments Technology.

Requirements

  • Staff-level software engineering experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems at scale.
  • Strong hands-on programming capability, particularly in Python, with experience building production-quality services and applications.
  • Strong cloud-native engineering experience; AWS experience is primary, while Azure or GCP experience is also valuable.
  • Practical experience building or productionising AI/ML or Generative AI solutions rather than only consuming AI tools.
  • Knowledge of LLM integration, agents, RAG, grounding, prompt engineering, tool use, evaluation, guardrails, and responsible AI.
  • Experience taking AI from prototype to production, including addressing scalability, latency, cost, security, observability, and reliability.
  • Experience designing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and production operations.
  • Ability to make architectural decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and provide technical direction in ambiguous or rapidly evolving areas.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
  • Exposure to Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Kafka or event streaming, data pipelines, vector and relational data stores, schema management, Terraform, Kubernetes or containers, and GitHub Actions is valuable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a critical, regulated environment and create pragmatic, reusable engineering patterns.
