Responsibilities
- Build Java backend software for traffic control, traffic management, and urban mobility.
- Design, implement, integrate, and operate microservice architectures across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Develop new capabilities and maintain existing code, including resolving production defects and security vulnerabilities.
- Analyze requirements, shape technical concepts, and support customer projects.
- Contribute to lifecycle management, monitoring, incident management, and continuous improvement.
- Work with protocols, data formats, APIs, databases, message brokers, and streaming technologies.
- Apply automated testing, code reviews, refactoring, and security best practices.
Requirements
- Very good Java skills and strong backend development experience.
- A degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or a comparable qualification.
- Very good knowledge of microservice design, Docker-based containerization, and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with message brokers or streaming technologies such as Kafka or Flink.
- Ability to communicate in English while working daily with international colleagues.
- Preferred experience with AI-assisted or agentic development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot.
- Preferred experience with Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, C++, GitLab CI, Nexus, Terraform, and CI/CD.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and hybrid operating models.
- Knowledge of XML, JSON, ASN.1, and SOAP/REST APIs.
- Experience with asynchronous message processing such as MQTT is advantageous.
- Experience with GIS, map services, or traffic-related data models is advantageous.
