Responsibilities
- Lead design discussions covering APIs, databases, caching, messaging, resilience, and observability.
- Design end-to-end architecture for applications across the financial services portfolio.
- Analyze trade-offs and propose scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions aligned with business goals.
- Evaluate and introduce software patterns, tools, and frameworks through proof-of-concepts.
- Lead engineering efforts for AWS solutions and stay current with related technologies.
- Develop strategies and architecture for cloud-based data lakes and real-time or near-real-time data ingestion, processing, monitoring, and reporting.
- Design cloud-native applications using AWS services, serverless workflows, and computing solutions.
- Incorporate security and DevSecOps principles into application architecture.
- Maintain technical documentation, architectural diagrams, reusable design decisions, and best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical decisions.
- Support off-hours incident response when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering and architecture, including 3+ years in system or application design.
- Strong foundation in Spring Boot, Java, Python, and/or JavaScript.
- Experience designing and deploying large-scale, multi-region cloud-native solutions, preferably on AWS.
- Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures, containers, and EKS or ECS.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and cross-functional projects.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical decisions.
- AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience conducting architecture reviews, presenting design proposals, and developing hands-on proof-of-concepts is a bonus.
- Finance-domain business process automation experience is a bonus.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States without current or future Toyota immigration support or sponsorship.
