Responsibilities
- Write automated integration, contract, and ICD conformance tests in pytest against software requirements.
- Investigate CI failures, escaped defects, and stochastic issues with senior engineers using debugging and log-analysis tools.
- Convert defects into permanent regression tests and expand release-gate coverage.
- Run and maintain test suites on hardware-in-the-loop benches, capture data, and report results.
- Maintain fixtures and test suites, triage flaky tests, and improve test-code reliability and readability.
- Review software requirements and Systems Validation plans and identify ambiguous or untestable language.
- Provide feedback on CI, dashboards, and release tooling to improve the RSIT platform.
- Collaborate with stack engineers, firmware engineers, and senior test engineers to produce representative verification.
Requirements
- Working proficiency in Python for maintainable test code and utility scripts, plus comfort reading C++.
- Hands-on experience with pytest or equivalent frameworks such as Google Test or JUnit, including fixtures and parameterization.
- Day-to-day Linux command-line proficiency, including system and log inspection, filesystem navigation, and shell scripting.
- Solid Git fundamentals, including branching, pull requests, and code review participation.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate bugs, read unfamiliar code, and communicate findings through clear bug reports and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in software development, test engineering, or a related discipline; strong internship and project experience may substitute for part of this requirement.
- Experience writing or maintaining automated tests in a production codebase is strongly preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include ROS or ROS2 exposure, experience using CI systems, hardware-in-the-loop verification, Grafana/Loki/Prometheus observability tools, relevant robotics or hardware-integrated domain experience, and sanitizer tooling such as ASan, TSan, or UBSan.
