Base Salary
$119k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate embedded software across hardware abstraction, middleware, control plane, management plane, and application layers.
- Develop software for carrier-grade optical networking platforms deployed in edge, metro, and core environments.
- Implement data-flow solutions and network element management software using model-driven approaches.
- Develop and maintain YANG-based software using ConfD, NETCONF, RESTCONF, and SNMP.
- Implement distributed messaging and data exchange using DDS publish-subscribe patterns, Protocol Buffers, or similar technologies.
- Support platform bring-up, system integration, evaluation testing, unit testing, and field issue resolution.
- Lead root-cause analysis, debugging, and resolution of complex integration issues across software and hardware components.
- Collaborate with hardware, platform, system test, architecture, and product teams.
- Use AI-assisted development tools for debugging, code analysis, unit-test generation, and automation.
- Contribute to software quality, maintainability, automation, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor others and share practical engineering knowledge across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- At least 5 years of embedded software development experience in the telecom domain.
- Strong programming experience in C/C++, Python, or scripting languages.
- Experience developing complex software features for embedded telecom transport systems.
- Hands-on experience developing embedded software in Linux or UNIX-based environments.
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills across complex, multi-component systems.
- Understanding of network management protocols such as NETCONF, RESTCONF, SNMP, or CLI-based management interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with YANG models and model-driven software development.
- Experience with software integration, unit testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with Git, JIRA, Agile/Scrum, and modern software development workflows.
- Strong verbal and written communication and effective cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred experience with optical transport systems, ROADM, Transponders, ConfD, chassis-based high-capacity networking systems, DDS, pub/sub messaging, Protocol Buffers, JSON, YAML, XML, CMake, autotools, Make, static analysis and quality tools, secure coding, containers, microservices, cloud-native development, and AI-assisted software development tools.
