Responsibilities
- Own and drive end-to-end architecture and delivery of critical systems across multiple teams.
- Define microservices architecture, platform design, engineering standards, and technical strategy.
- Lead complex technical initiatives, proofs of concept, architectural reviews, governance, and cross-team execution.
- Design and guide scalable, distributed, reliable, performant, and secure systems.
- Architect and optimize PostgreSQL data systems and cloud-native solutions on AWS/GCP.
- Establish practices for CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, security, resiliency, code quality, API contracts, and reusable frameworks.
- Contribute hands-on by building critical components, proofs of concept, and performance-sensitive systems.
- Lead code reviews, refactoring, testability, debugging, and production-quality engineering practices.
- Mentor engineers and drive technical alignment across engineering, product, sales, support, and architecture teams.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and LLMs to improve developer productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Drive adoption of AI-driven and specification-based development practices for requirements, code, APIs, and test artifacts.
- Identify technical risks and resolve ambiguous, high-impact, business-critical problems.
Requirements
- 16–20 years of software engineering experience, including significant architecture, large-scale system design, production software, and product architecture accountability.
- Proven ownership and delivery of complex distributed systems across multiple teams.
- Expert knowledge of GraphQL and REST APIs at scale, microservices architecture, background-job and scheduling systems, application security, and multi-tenant database design.
- Experience with schema design, indexing, partitioning, views, query plans, migrations against live customer databases, and Prisma or a comparable ORM.
- Production AWS experience with ECS or a comparable container platform, RDS, S3, ECR, IAM, and an end-to-end owned CI/CD pipeline.
- Daily hands-on use of Docker and Compose.
- Practical experience using LLM APIs in a product and AI-assisted coding tools, with sound judgment about their appropriate use.
- Strong hands-on ability to prototype, build proofs of concept, and solve complex technical challenges.
- Experience leading initiatives in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, ownership, and decision-making skills in ambiguous and high-pressure environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Preferred experience with RedwoodJS or CedarJS, GraphQL Yoga, Envelop, MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, Azure Integration Services, Redis, nginx, supervisord, Bitbucket Pipelines, Model Context Protocol server design, and multi-tenant SaaS products.
- Preferred knowledge of static analysis, SAST, OWASP, CWE, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
