Base Salary
$197k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Deliver robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks with architects.
- Identify opportunities for refactoring, technical-debt reduction, and system-performance improvement.
- Influence long-term technology strategy through evaluation of emerging tools and practices.
- Mentor engineers and participate in internal and external technology communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred experience includes 7+ years coding with multiple listed languages, 3+ years with databases and cloud technologies, and experience with open-source frameworks.
- Preferred experience includes front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, synchronous and asynchronous APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based version control.
- Preferred experience includes cloud troubleshooting, observability, AI-based coding tools, interactive AI tooling, mentoring engineers, and leading cross-functional or large-scale technical initiatives.
- Preferred experience establishing coding standards and design patterns across teams.

- The listed full-time annual salary ranges are location-specific: $197,300-$225,100 in McLean, VA and $179,400-$204,700 in Richmond, VA; the role may also include performance-based incentive compensation.
