Responsibilities
- Design and develop platform services that enable autonomous AI agents to interact with OpenShift, SQL Server, Apigee, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and other infrastructure systems.
- Design APIs and natural-language interfaces for agent-driven diagnostics, remediation, maintenance, and automation.
- Integrate metrics, events, logs, and traces to support AI-driven anomaly detection and automated workflows.
- Drive AI initiatives from proof of concept through production, establishing LLMOps, model governance, and lifecycle management practices.
- Own the 12–18 month technical roadmap for AI platform services and influence build-versus-buy, tooling, vendor, and investment decisions.
- Define KPIs and report the adoption, ROI, risks, and business impact of AI platform capabilities to senior leadership.
- Optimize platform services for generative AI models and autonomous workflows, including RAG, fine-tuning, evaluation, and cost and latency optimization.
- Establish responsible AI, ethical AI, security, compliance, data privacy, monitoring, scalability, resilience, SLA, and reliability standards.
- Lead architecture design, code reviews, technical discussions, cross-domain integration, and final escalation for complex AI system issues.
- Advise VP+ and SVP leadership and present technical direction and business impact to executive steering committees.
- Mentor engineers, participate in hiring, shape talent strategy, define competency frameworks, and raise engineering standards.
- Document and share AI platform knowledge and represent the organization through forums, conferences, publications, and thought leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, master's, or preferably PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++ and strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Expertise designing and orchestrating autonomous AI agents with tool use, memory, planning, guardrails, agent loops, function calling, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Experience with prompt engineering, RAG pipeline design, fine-tuning, embeddings, context-window management, model evaluation, vector databases, knowledge graphs, data chunking, grounding datasets, and feedback loops.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI, large language models, NLP techniques, programmatic LLM API usage, LLMOps pipelines, and model lifecycle management.
- Experience integrating enterprise platforms including OpenShift, SQL Server, Apigee, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
- Ability to translate business problems into AI architectures, evaluate model and vendor trade-offs, define responsible AI standards, and drive enterprise adoption.
- Demonstrated experience defining technical roadmaps, influencing investment decisions, and delivering AI initiatives with measurable enterprise-wide impact.
- Ability to lead agile teams and collaborate across multiple squads and domains while communicating complex technical concepts to executive and non-technical audiences.
- Experience advising VP+ leadership, presenting to executive steering committees, and hiring, developing, and retaining engineering talent.
- Expertise in reinforcement learning, autonomous agents, or advanced AI techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- AI/ML certifications, open-source contributions, top-tier publications, speaking engagements, and published AI/ML thought leadership are preferred.
