Responsibilities
- Architect and implement mission-critical observability platform components for performance, scalability, cost efficiency, and resiliency.
- Develop observability improvements that help engineers and customers diagnose production issues.
- Own critical code areas and maintain high standards for security, durability, availability, performance, quality, and maintainability.
- Write and improve production-ready database code, diagnose failures and bugs, and prevent regressions through testing and code quality practices.
- Handle customer escalations, collaborate with support engineers, and participate in the on-call rotation.
- Lead development and project management for large cross-company initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering, Product Management, and leadership on technical direction, product roadmaps, dependencies, and complexity.
- Mentor engineers, review designs and code, interview advanced software engineering candidates, and contribute to long-term technical strategy.
- Maintain expertise in database and observability developments from industry and academia.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience designing, programming, debugging, and tuning distributed or highly concurrent mission-critical software systems.
- Expert-level programming ability with experience in C, C++, Java, or Rust.
- Experience operating latency-sensitive, high-throughput systems.
- Strong systems fundamentals, including multithreaded programming and performance profiling.
- Familiarity with database internals or building core components for data-processing systems.
- Familiarity with the observability ecosystem and best practices.
- Excellent technical communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Experience or understanding of information security management.
- Indexing or database performance-tuning experience is a nice-to-have.
