Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and operate Roku’s multi-cloud, multi-region Kubernetes and service mesh platform.
- Develop platform and automation solutions using Go, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, Terraform, and scripting.
- Research and implement technologies that improve scalability, reliability, developer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Build infrastructure security best practices into platform design and automation.
- Create tooling for network traffic insights, cross-cluster communication efficiency, and cost attribution across shared-tenancy clusters.
- Partner with product teams to migrate workloads onto Kubernetes and Istio.
- Scale platform telemetry with the Observability team and maintain a holistic view of platform health.
- Apply SRE principles to maintain high availability and streamline onboarding workflows.
- Build agentic systems and AI-powered tooling, including agents, MCP servers, and automation.
- Mentor engineers and help establish infrastructure and automation best practices.
Requirements
- 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS, with GCP or Azure as a plus, and large-scale systems handling significant traffic and data.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and service mesh technologies, including platforms such as EKS, GKE, or AKS.
- Proficiency in Go or another systems programming language and Python or another scripting language.
- Experience designing infrastructure, building automation tools, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and using modern deployment practices.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, or Grafana.
- Ability to work independently and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience building agentic systems such as agents, MCP servers, custom skills, or agent frameworks, and integrating AI tools to improve processes.
