Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical leader and point of contact for the team and align platform services with Procore’s global technical strategy.
- Own the long-term health, stability, high availability, performance, reliability, and operating costs of the platform domain.
- Drive technical roadmaps and the three-plus-year evolution of platform services in partnership with Product, UX, and engineering teams.
- Build and maintain common application platform features that enable internal and external teams to deliver experiences.
- Design AI-ready architectures and use AI-assisted development tools and agentic capabilities where they provide business value.
- Act as a technical role model for the Cairo engineering team, mentor senior talent, and promote rigorous code review and architectural excellence.
- Resolve high-ambiguity technical problems through data analysis and proof-of-concept work.
- Develop scalable service-oriented systems involving APIs, asynchronous streaming platforms, real-time systems, and distributed data stores.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or comparable work experience.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, including technical leadership for a business-critical domain or multiple interrelated teams.
- Deep expertise designing and building highly scalable software using service-oriented architecture, APIs, asynchronous streaming platforms, and real-time systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Node, Kafka, and Ruby on Rails, including the ability to create reference code and reusable architectural patterns.
- Experience selecting and scaling PostgreSQL and DynamoDB for high-volume workloads, with a strong understanding of distributed systems and non-functional requirements.
- Experience with modern web development across the full lifecycle and monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Honeycomb, New Relic, Sumo Logic, or OpenTelemetry.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor and with agentic workflows or LLM-driven capabilities.
- Excellent communication, technical documentation, mentoring, and organizational collaboration skills.
