Base Salary
$230k - $310k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development of machine learning and AI models for search ranking, recommendations, matching, and marketplace optimization.
- Design and own scalable MLOps practices covering data pipelines, experiment tracking, model training, post-training, deployment, monitoring, model registries, and rollback.
- Post-train and self-host open-weight LLMs, including fine-tuning, RLHF or preference alignment, distillation, quantization, and inference optimization.
- Define evaluation frameworks using offline metrics, online experimentation, guardrail metrics, and LLM-specific quality and safety measures.
- Collaborate with data scientists, infrastructure engineers, platform teams, and product managers to deliver production machine learning systems.
- Set long-term technical direction, drive roadmaps, implement new machine learning products and features, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in data science and machine learning, preferably in technology or marketplace environments.
- Hands-on experience post-training and self-hosting open-weight LLMs, including fine-tuning, quantization, and serving infrastructure such as vLLM or SGLang.
- Deep knowledge of machine learning and deep learning evaluation metrics, regression detection, and evaluation strategy design.
- End-to-end experience with MLOps, including data versioning, feature stores, machine learning CI/CD, model monitoring, observability, and retraining pipelines.
- Knowledge of large-scale distributed application architecture, system design, implementation, and performance tuning.
- Experience with search systems, information retrieval, ranking algorithms, and advanced machine learning techniques.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, with strong software engineering skills.
- Ability to set technical direction, communicate with non-technical stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across Product and Engineering.
