Responsibilities
- Perform senior-level system analysis, design, development, implementation, and support for applications and databases.
- Translate technical specifications into code, develop and test software artifacts, and support automated testing.
- Lead backend optimization for performance, scalability, and responsiveness.
- Integrate data sources, APIs, third-party products, and services to improve data flow and system efficiency.
- Create and maintain backend architecture and logic documentation.
- Implement security, data protection, resilience, and enterprise technology standards.
- Collaborate with front-end teams to design backend interfaces.
- Promote applications through development, test, and production environments and provide follow-up production support.
- Participate in design, code, and test inspections, systems analysis, change control, and issue resolution.
- Mentor less-experienced staff and communicate technical considerations to cross-functional teams and internal clients.
- Ensure deliverables comply with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, system integration, database design, and backend architecture.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or a master’s degree/diploma in Computer Science.
- Strong Python programming experience developing scalable applications, APIs, data-processing solutions, and enterprise integrations.
- Experience with AWS cloud services including Lambda, ECS, Fargate, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, and CloudFormation.
- Expertise in either full-stack development using Python, Angular, REST APIs, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development, or data engineering using Python, PySpark, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, data-processing frameworks, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Experience with database design, SQL development, performance optimization, data modeling, and troubleshooting complex application or data issues.
- Hands-on experience with source control, DevOps, CI/CD tools, and automated testing methodologies such as TDD and BDD.
- Knowledge of Agile tools and methodologies including JIRA and Confluence.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner or another AWS certification is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
