Base Salary
$125k - $156k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and own guardrails in the LLM Gateway, including content filtering, output validation, PHI/PII detection, prompt-injection defenses, session retention, and audit logging.
- Engineer policy enforcement, risk-based output routing, retrieval filtering, citation checks, and PHI exposure prevention for agentic and RAG systems.
- Implement observability, accuracy and drift monitoring, misuse alerting, escalation thresholds, and AI incident-response tooling.
- Build automated AI risk intake, scoring, tiering, routing, and an auditable AI Risk Register aligned with applicable governance frameworks.
- Run AI use-case intake and high-risk governance reviews with Legal, Privacy, RAQA, and business stakeholders.
- Own technical due diligence for AI vendors and foundation-model providers, including data residency, API security, transparency, contractual controls, and regulatory alignment.
- Help maintain AI acceptable-use policies and advise engineering teams on implementing governance controls.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years working directly with AI/ML systems, LLM infrastructure, or AI safety and governance engineering.
- Hands-on experience building production AI systems such as LLM pipelines, RAG architectures, agentic runtimes, or AI observability and monitoring infrastructure.
- Practical experience mitigating hallucination, bias, prompt injection, data leakage, and model drift in production.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building production API integrations, middleware, and data pipelines.
- Experience with ML observability and monitoring, including instrumentation, drift thresholds, and alerting.
- Experience in healthcare, life sciences, financial services, or another regulated environment with HIPAA-equivalent obligations and PHI/PII handling.
- Working knowledge of NIST AI RMF or ISO 42001 applied through technical controls.
- Ability to write technical specifications and documentation for engineering and Legal audiences.
- Preferred experience with LLM gateways, RAG controls, content moderation, agentic AI safety, AI red-teaming, adversarial testing, structured model evaluation, or trust and safety infrastructure.
- Preferred experience with Arize, Fiddler, Whylogs, diagnostics, genomics, clinical AI, HIPAA, FDA GxP, GMLP, GMP, GCP, CLIA, PMDA, GDPR, CIPP, CIPT, or Responsible AI credentials.
