Responsibilities
- Design and build highly scalable software systems in Java for major business initiatives.
- Develop and operate real-time and batch data pipelines, streaming analytics systems, web crawling systems, and distributed machine learning infrastructure.
- Automate software processes and support high-throughput, low-latency data-driven pipelines at scale.
- Design and build APIs using Spring Boot, REST API patterns, and GraphQL.
- Estimate engineering effort, define project scope, and assess the impact of change requests.
- Build dashboards and apply analytics to improve software process efficiency and generate actionable insights.
- Monitor systems, detect anomalies, troubleshoot distributed architectures, conduct root-cause analysis, and escalate systemic issues.
- Support system maintenance, production and non-production environment setup, and operational excellence.
- Lead discovery phases for medium-to-large projects and create high-level technical designs and roadmaps.
- Coordinate engineering teams and stakeholders across geographies and time zones to deliver software projects.
- Partner with product management, business teams, data scientists, and technology leadership to prioritize and deliver platform capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus 3 years of software engineering or related experience, or 5 years of software engineering or related experience.
- Hands-on software engineering experience with Spark and Scala or Python.
- Experience integrating GenAI or machine learning components and using generative AI tools to improve development efficiency.
- Proficiency designing and building APIs, including Spring Boot, REST API design patterns, and GraphQL.
- Experience building real-time and batch pipelines with Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, Hadoop, Hive, and Elasticsearch.
- Hands-on PL/SQL experience with complex queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
- Experience with Azure and GCP cloud technologies.
- Solid Linux knowledge and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed, multi-tier architectures.
- Experience supporting and maintaining production systems and bootstrapping production and non-production cloud environments.
- Experience building secure, scalable, and highly available online services.
- Experience coordinating and driving teams across geographies and time zones.
- Experience with Big Data applications, Apache Tomcat or similar web/application containers, high-performance stream processing, and large-scale messaging systems.
- Preferred: master’s degree in a related technical field and experience leading information security or cybersecurity projects.
- Preferred: knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
- Preferred: Cisco certification.
