Base Salary
$155k - $304k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, scalable AI integration platforms connecting enterprise systems and enabling mission-critical automation.
- Develop the AI integration client ecosystem, including connections to external tools, data sources, and enterprise systems.
- Own backend service architecture for high-throughput, low-latency APIs, agent workflows, and cross-system orchestration.
- Define identity, authentication, and trust-boundary strategies using OAuth, API keys, and service-to-service communication.
- Partner with product and engineering leaders on roadmaps, technical strategy, and durable platform capabilities.
- Lead production reliability through metrics, SLOs and SLAs, observability, resilience, incident readiness, and performance optimization.
- Raise engineering standards through architecture reviews, testing strategy, design standards, and mentorship.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production backend systems with TypeScript, Deno, Node.js, or Bun.
- Strong experience designing and shipping API-driven platform services and distributed systems using microservices, event-driven patterns, and secure service-to-service communication.
- Practical experience building AI integration layers such as MCP clients and servers, tool orchestration, external API connectors, and authentication mediation.
- Deep knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC, API keys, token lifecycles, secret management, and least-privilege access.
- Cloud-native experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, including Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and production operations.
- Experience with observability and reliability engineering, including service metrics, SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident response, and performance tuning.
- Backend experience with modern server frameworks and data systems such as TypeScript/Node.js, Python, and PostgreSQL; Python experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, collaborate cross-functionally, mentor engineers, make technical decisions, and own delivery through production.
- Scope and leveling may flex from Senior to Staff based on architectural impact and leadership.
