Responsibilities
- Own a large portion of one of Ashby’s products and run projects end to end.
- Research customer problems and competitors, write product specifications, create wireframes, prototype ideas, and implement solutions.
- Build frontend and backend product features that solve complex Talent Acquisition and future product use cases.
- Make product, design, architecture, and technology decisions while collaborating with product managers, designers, infrastructure, and other engineers.
- Develop reusable abstractions, tools, and building blocks that increase engineering leverage and product flexibility.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues as part of the engineering team.
- Communicate decisions and project progress deliberately while maintaining a low-meeting, high-focus working style.
- Participate in pair programming, technical design discussions, product thinking interviews, and infrastructure discussions during the hiring process.
Requirements
- Experience owning and leading projects through significant product and technical ambiguity.
- Ability to work across the technology stack, including frontend development and infrastructure decisions.
- Strong product judgment and willingness to research problems, write product specifications, create wireframes, and make design and technology decisions.
- Ability to balance speed and quality while delivering high-quality software with urgency.
- Demonstrated project ownership and experience driving solutions independently.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including keeping stakeholders informed and involving others appropriately.
- A continuous-improvement mindset and interest in creating leverage through automation, abstractions, tools, and developer experience.
- Fundamental software engineering skills such as debugging and abstraction, with a willingness to learn new technologies.
- A love of typed languages is helpful, but previous experience with Ashby’s technology stack is not required.
