Base Salary

$245k - $307k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Define and evangelize a bold technical vision for the assigned domain.
  • Decompose complex technical problems into practical, operational solutions.
  • Ensure the quality of technical designs and implementations.
  • Serve as an authoritative expert in performance, scalability, operability, and other non-functional system characteristics.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge and contribute to the engineering community.
  • Balance multiple projects to maximize technical impact.
  • Mentor engineers and product community members while strengthening organizational technical expertise.
  • Act as a trusted advisor for key technologies, platforms, and capability domains.
  • Create code samples, blog posts, communications, and other materials to share technical knowledge.
  • Promote engineering excellence, recruit technical talent, and help develop the next generation of engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in general software required.
  • At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture required.
  • Preferred: bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Preferred: 10+ years of professional coding experience with commonly used languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Swift.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of experience across the full software development lifecycle, including conception, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of networking experience, including BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and data center networking.
  • Preferred: experience using interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.
  • Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization.
