Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers to deliver high-quality experiences for Square merchants and end users.
- Design and implement impactful end-user product features.
- Build APIs supporting features within Square’s mobile applications and dashboard product.
- Maintain, scale, and improve existing services.
- Refine existing and establish new engineering patterns and processes.
Requirements
- Experience with Ruby and Rails.
- Interest or experience with full-text search systems such as Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene; streaming systems such as Kafka, Flink, or Beam; or other distributed systems and databases.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining complex systems at scale.
- Strong programming fundamentals; the team primarily uses Ruby and Go, but values transferable programming ability across languages.
- Enthusiasm for remote collaboration and commitment to quality, technical excellence, and results.
