Responsibilities
- Run discovery with merchants and partners to understand workflows, systems, constraints, risks, and success metrics.
- Design solution architectures across Shopify’s commerce stack and adjacent ERP, OMS, payments, and integration systems, including legacy migrations.
- Create tailored demos, prototypes, diagrams, workshops, and technical narratives tied to merchant outcomes.
- Partner with Account Executives, Solution Partners, Product, Launch, and CSM teams on opportunity strategy, blockers, and field feedback.
- Use AI for merchant research, transcript synthesis, demo planning, technical validation, and reusable team workflows.
- Apply judgment when determining technical depth, simplifying complexity, involving specialists, and challenging assumptions.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in solutions engineering, sales engineering, technical consulting, solutions architecture, or commerce technology implementation.
- Technical fluency in APIs, integrations, data flows, authentication, webhooks, and modern SaaS architecture.
- Ability to discover complex business needs and translate them into clear technical requirements and scalable solutions.
- Commercial awareness connecting technical recommendations to revenue growth, operational efficiency, customer experience, and risk reduction.
- Strong written and verbal communication for executive, technical, partner, and stakeholder audiences.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, build trust and champions, and navigate tension across technical and executive groups.
- Comfort with ambiguity, self-directed learning, distributed teamwork, and practical use of AI tools.
- Based in Australia with ability to travel for customer meetings, partner engagements, and team events.
- Preferred experience with Shopify, commerce platforms, POS, B2B, retail operations, integration-heavy environments, or ANZ enterprise and mid-market sales cycles.
- Preferred familiarity with JavaScript, Liquid, React, GraphQL, REST APIs, SQL, and AI-assisted tools such as Claude, Cursor, Gemini, or NotebookLM.
- Preferred track record of creating reusable assets, enablement, or internal systems.
