Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, implementation, and operation of complex backend Python services, APIs, and data-processing workflows.
- Design asynchronous and event-driven integrations, scalable API and event contracts, schema evolution, validation, migrations, and distributed-system reliability patterns.
- Document technical decisions, contribute to technical roadmaps and modernization efforts, and balance delivery speed, operational risk, maintainability, and scalability.
- Lead design and code reviews, establish standards for Python, testing, security, observability, and documentation, and mentor engineers.
- Partner with SRE and DevOps on container images, Kubernetes deployments, infrastructure as code, secrets management, environment configuration, deployment verification, and rollback.
- Define production-readiness expectations using service-level indicators, metrics, dashboards, alerts, performance testing, capacity analysis, and resilience testing.
- Lead complex incident investigations, resolve root causes, and address systemic risks across services, repositories, teams, and environments.
- Coordinate technical dependencies with Network Operations and other stakeholders to improve operational outcomes.
Requirements
- Minimum seven years of professional software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience designing and operating complex production systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Advanced Python development experience, including structuring, testing, packaging, and operating long-lived backend applications.
- Experience designing or delivering distributed services, APIs, data platforms, network tools, or automation systems with asynchronous or event-driven integrations.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, transaction behavior, indexing, and controlled schema migrations.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, containerized services, CI/CD pipelines, and automated software-quality and security controls.
- Experience implementing production observability and diagnosing issues across application code, infrastructure, databases, messaging systems, and external dependencies.
- Demonstrated ownership of production software through delivery, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continual improvement.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through architecture, mentoring, project leadership, design reviews, code reviews, or cross-team influence.
- Preferred experience developing telecommunications software and understanding carrier networks, network operations, service assurance, network inventory, provisioning, transport/IP technologies, or OSS.
- Preferred experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, gRPC, Protobuf, NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, GitLab CI, GitOps, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch, Loki, VictoriaMetrics, gNMI, SNMP, or NETCONF.
